I don't really like to drink water. I do because its good for me but I don't enjoy it. Yesterday my mom was making gin and tonics so I grabed a thin slice of lime and squeezed it into my ice water. Its much better with a little flavor in it, but its still lighter then apple or grape juice. I was surpised because I don't like lemon in my water.

The weather service is saying it was likely a tornado. 7 homes where made uninhabitable and I think I heard on the news that 70 where damaged. I can't believe we have power and cable back today. As far as I can tell the utility workers have been at it since 6pm Friday.

We have no power at our house. There was a huge storm that blew though yesterday evening. I wad planning on driving 5 minutes from work to a car dealer to get an ipod cable for my car. While I was in the city still it started hailing, the noise was crazy with it pinging off my car. I got onto the highway to go 1 exit and got stuck on the exit for about 10 mintues. They wouldn't let me turn onto the road I needed and I was stuck for another 10 minutes trying to get to the dealer another way. I hadn't moved and decided to do a U turn and go home. By that time traffic on the highway was horrid and it was another hour before I could get home (normally a 15 minute drive) I was trying to call my parents to tell them I was OK and to see if my dad made it home OK from work because he was on his bike. Our land line was down and I couldn't get though to cell phones for a long time. IT was very surreal. Fortunitly my dad found some cover when it started to hail, and he managed to weave his way though downed trees to our house. Pictures from my town are below in my flickr set.

Going to meet my mom to buy a kia soul. They offered me 5K for my old car. I really wrestled with myself to let go of my old car, but I think this is for the best. The kia has a 10 year/100k mile power train warranty, so I feel ok about going with a cheaper make.

So, we brought went to buy a new battery, but had them test the old one first. The old one still holds a charge, which means my car not starting is related to the wet weather and not to an old battery :-/

I went to a spinning guild meeting yesterday, then came home and went for a short bike ride in my street clothes to try and calm my mind. Then I tried to study until dinner. After dinner I baked some magic bars to bring to the retirment party I went to today. DO to budget problems they are basicly closing down our towns youth services department, and today was a retirment party for one of the staff members. I'm sad to see the program gone as its one that was very important to my life.

I get up and go to class (scooter) eat breakfast whist waiting for class to start. (Inner need to be at least 10 minutes early) go home, pack up and transport self to work (car/bus/bike/mooched ride from brother) work for at least 4.5 hours and no more then 6, go home relax for an hour, eat dinner, do homework, then go to bed. Repeat. Perhaps a summer class wasn't such a great idea after all.

| pimp my pack |
[30 May 2009|05:26pm] |
I went to EMS the other day to try and get a new buckle for my pack. They tried to sell me a buckle that didn't fit. He didn't say anything about the part where I would have to cut out the strap that housed the functioning buckle half or anything. He just tried to sell me the buckle that didn't fit. Well screw that, you need to at least take the time to explain to me that you don't cary that buckle any more and explain what I'd have to do to make it work.
So I went to REI instead. The guy goes "woooooa thats an old EMS pack" I explain my delema, and they show me where the buckles are. At REI the buckles are all in little packs, but he opened it up for me to see if it fit. It didn't so I went on my way.
I did get it a safety whistle buckle. I had to perform minor surgery to get the new one on but I was okay with that.
Then I had a brilliant idea. I remembered that my EMS messenger bag had a strap rip off of it last year. I removed the buckle from the bag and it fit. So my 10 year old pack got a face lift. And I will use the old sternum strap buckle for another project I have in the works.
